WEDNESDAYS ARE FOR WAITING
It has been a while since I have blogged on my Wednesdays are for Waiting Blog topic.
Waiting is a BIG topic. I never run out of things to consider when I think about waiting:
Yesterday’s inauguration was all about waiting~
The United States waiting for a new president.
African Americans waiting for Barack Obama, “first black president” to lead the nation.
The First Family waiting to move into the White House.
Sasha and Malia waiting for their long-promised puppy.
I am preparing for a retreat where I will be speaking on waiting – the retreat’s title is
Wait Management
Spiritual Body Building for Those Called to God’s Wait Room
This afternnon as I prepare, I have been re-reading all the verses in the Bible where God’s people are called to wait. It is a HUGE topic.
Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t act right away on our behalf?
Why does he make us wait?
What are we supposed to do while we wait?
Is He punishing us?
Does He even hear?
Is he ignoring us?
What is the purpose behind making us wait?
Want to weigh in on my “waity” topic? Let me know what your experiences have been…

I am probably the queen of waiting. I've been waiting for God to send my husband for soon to be 21 years. I've spanned the spectrum of patience, frustration, doubt, fear, anger, pouting... you name it, I've experienced it. I still have no idea why, but I'm learning to "enjoy" the wait and make the most of this time.
Hi Van! I'm here for the first time and I love your little corner of the world wide web! I scrolled down just a bit and the post you wrote about parenting and your two boys- wow, thanks for the open & real heart! I see you had many comments on that one~ I can see why! I didn't take a look at them as time is biting at me at the moment, but I thought I'd share real quick here to say how much I appreciated your sharing and baring your heart for all to see- it was inspirational and it encourages!
Blessings & wishing you a good time at the retreat!
In Him, Deanna
ps- what a neat title you have for your blog! ~hope to be back soon :O)
Scripture promises us that all things will work together for the good to those who love God. I believe The Wait is most definitely for our own benefit! When we are helpless is when we turn to God. Waiting puts us on our knees. It makes us realize Who is in control. As a plant whose roots grow deeper in periods of drought in search of water, The Wait is there to make us go deeper with God.
It also prepares us for what lies ahead. I doubt David was ready to rule a kingdom when Samuel annointed him-- his own father didn't even figure him to be a possibility for the new king! But God, while letting David know he would one day be king, allowed David to go through an excruciating 20 years of being chased around the desert by an angry Saul. The maturing factor was phenomenal, not to mention the spiritual growth David experienced as evidenced by his Psalms written while he was on the run.
We all HATE the wait. But it is one more tool God uses in our lives in our sanctification and perfection.
Sigh. I hate that. But at least we can have hope in the agony of the wait!!
Oh my, I just read Lysa's post. She said, "When answered prayer is a long time coming, it gets your heart in the habit of being utterly dependent on and desperate for God. And that is a lesson I would have never wanted to miss."
That is so well articulated for me. If I lose the habit of seeking the Lord, then I'll wait so I'll always seek HIM.
May your retreat be filled with the abundance of the Lord.
