Van Walton

Fun Facts about Van Walton

My favorite smell: The way the earth smells after it rains.

My favorite sound: The first notes of a grand symphony.

My favorite way to relax: Sitting anywhere outside - on my front porch, on my deck, or by the lake, early in the morning with my first cup of coffee.

My favorite birthday dessert: a Peach cobbler baked by my husband. He’s my fave chef!

I will not eat: Avocado. They turn my stomach into a volcano that never erupts.

Technology I couldn't live without and why: My laptop - it takes me anywhere I want to go.

One thing that makes me smile: My sons' faces!

MOVIN' ON MONDAYS

THE GREATEST MOVE EVER MADE
When God decided to move to earth, He chose a young woman. We all know the story:
God loved us so much He gave His only Son.
Hi Son, Jesus had to be born so God sent an angel to inform Mary that she would be the vessel He would use to move to earth. WOW!

Have you ever considered that God might choose YOU to move His Word into your new neighborhood?

I have been so guilty of wrapping everything emotional around me, myself, and I. I’ve been so selfish as to only consider my own feelings, desires, and pain!
Once I got over myself and realized God moves us for his purpose, changes and uncomfortable circumstances began to take on a new and surprisingly adventurous journey.
Mary amazes me. She inspires me. She only asked one question: “How can this be?”
I wonder- “Is God waiting to answer my prayers because He knows my heart is not ready to submit like Mary’s did?”

This is my new Christmas wish: To respond to God’s calling like Mary did.

I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said."

(Luke 1:38)

It's Christmas!
Shine!

Hi! I love this perspective. God recently sent me to really read about Abraham's response to God as God directed him to offer Isaac as sacrafice. I stood amazed at how Abraham responded to God. It opened my eyes to look at how I respond to God as well, and He asks nothing so drastic of me. I love how your post ties into what God is opening my eyes to. Thank you for taking time to share! A lot of times I look at my life and I too, say, "How can this BE?" but I don't think it's with the same heart as Mary's. It's a heart of confusion and dismay at the chaos of my life and a wondering at what God can possibly make of this MESS! But God alone knows how it CAN be. And that's a little different.
