My favorite smell: The way the earth smells after it rains.

My favorite sound: The first notes of a grand symphony.

My favorite way to relax: Sitting anywhere outside - on my front porch, on my deck, or by the lake, early in the morning with my first cup of coffee.

My favorite birthday dessert: a Peach cobbler baked by my husband. He’s my fave chef!

WHO'S YOUR DECORATOR

I moved into my home ten years ago. I didn't plan on staying very long. We had moved 12 times and this house was our 7th house.  I didn't plan on living here very long.  And for that reason I didn't decorate. I didn't hang window treatments. I left many of my pictures in the packaging carefully designed for them by professional packers. I have left the flooring as it was, although we desperately need new carpeting.

Every once in a while DH and I scout the sales for  fabric - thinking about posible window treatments, carpeting - drooling at the latest floor fashions, and from time to time I consider going through boxes full of lovely wall hangings - but I lose interest.

I lose interest because I have found the most incredible Decorator ever!

Want to see His work? There is no one in the entire decorator world like Him. I dare you to find me anyone whose work matches the work of my Decorator. Oh! And let  me tell you - you can't beat his prices. Are you interested? We'll just take a look:

Why hang window treatments when this is "hanging" around my window?

His sense of lighting is out of this world!
     His suggestions~
for floor coverings:
Sometimes I feel I am in a sancturary - I'm surrounded by stained glass windows!
and why would I ever pay for pictures when I get to look at this?

Want the name of my decorator?
Just look around. His signature is everywhere.

What gorgeous photo's!!! But, then again, what a wonderful Designer.

When we moved into our present home just over 5 years ago, we too didn't plan on staying long. It was a move of necessity to get our son into a better school. We had to live in the school district and so we sold our "dream house" and moved to another city so our son could get a better education. As we didn't plan on staying, I wasn't into decorating. Why bother. This was just a stop over. However, one day I came to realize something. In viewing this home as a "holding pattern", I had put my life on hold too and wasn't allowing my heart to settle here.

Earlier this year I bought some "wall art". It was a saying that was suppose to be stencilled right on the wall. It read, "HOME is where our story begins..." I wanted my husband to make a wood base for it so that I could stencil it on the wood and then hang it, making it possible to take with us when we move again. However, the Lord spoke to my heart about that. He clearly let me know that I had to let my heart rest here...even if it was only temporary...I couldn't keep thinking that this wasn't "home".

In obedience I applied the stencil to the wall in our bedroom. You wouldn't believe the change this has had in me. This building has ceased being a "house" and truly become our "home" for however long God desires us to be here. "Home is where our story begins", and the pen that had been shelved is now writing further chapters in the book our lives.

Sorry this comment is so long...but your blog post brought back this memory.

Blessings,
Joy

What gorgeous photos! If I had views like that looking through my windows, I wouldn't put up any curtains either!

You are so right, Van. God's fingerprints are all over creation. I marvel at the beauty every morning as I walk my dog in the crisp fall air. Love your photos.

Thanks for your encouragement on my blog today!

I'm reminded of Rom. 1:20 -
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. When we see all this beauty around we must know in our hearts that there is a Creator! What beautiful photos!! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Yet, this world is not my home, I'm just a passing through! I totally understand and believe Joyful's comment! Even when we lived in KY for a 1 1/2 yr. during my hubby's sabbatical, we made the place our home - even though we rented it.

Thanks for stopping by my place for a visit and leaving a lovely comment!

Van, Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment of encouragement. Those are some gorgeous window treatments. Mine resemble beach, water and sky....I value your decorator, He has done some business here as well. I drive across a bridge and causeway every morning and the water and sky are never the same. That amazes me! And His prices are so reasonable, my faithful service to His kingdom, flaws and all. Now, to go check out your From the Pound to the Palace blog....I am so intrigued...thank you again!

Many years ago, I lived in a home that we weren't staying long in either...and I did not buy window treatments. I have never covered windows since! For exactly the same reason. Love your home!

Oh my gosh Van, I couldn't agree more!!!! Why do we even try to compete with that????

God is the perfect decorator and you displayed that beautifully here. You just made me feel so much better about not having drapes in my den. I can look outside and see the Lord's perfect decoration!

Love and Miss You!

This post touched my heart ~ so very deeply. As Joy stated, I also had put my life on hold because I did not like the home or area where we live. (going on 12 years!)

I have just realized that I was not putting full trust in my husband or in God's leading. So....let the decorations commence for I am thankful of God's leading in my life!

God Bless!
