Van Walton

Fun Facts about Van Walton

My favorite smell: The way the earth smells after it rains.

My favorite sound: The first notes of a grand symphony.

My favorite way to relax: Sitting anywhere outside - on my front porch, on my deck, or by the lake, early in the morning with my first cup of coffee.

My favorite birthday dessert: a Peach cobbler baked by my husband. He’s my fave chef!

I will not eat: Avocado. They turn my stomach into a volcano that never erupts.

Technology I couldn't live without and why: My laptop - it takes me anywhere I want to go.

One thing that makes me smile: My sons' faces!

MOVED BY JESUS

Resurrection blessings to all of you who have come over to visit from Proverbs 31 Encouragement for Today.

It is a great joy to share my experiences with you.

This is what I have learned of late:

Life is hard. Days can be dark. Hearts can break.

But ... God!
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
Two thousand years ago he sent His Son - to meet us in our broken-ness.

To explain the plan He has to fix us.

To touch us when no one else would.

To heal us when no one else could.

To walk along beside us when we feel so alone, rejected, worthless...

To save us!

Of late I have learned to smile because I know He is closest to me when I am broken.

So -- when my heart tears, when saddness comes, when clouds darken, I repeat to myself.

"God, I have nothing to despair. You are near me because you are near the broken hearted."

I want to shout it out - not that I am broken hearted, but that today I am special. I have a little secret stored in my heart:

"Today, because I am broken, God is near!"

He comes to repair.

Not ony does he come to repair me. He comes to take me home with Him.

Not only do I smile becuase He is near, I rejoice, because He has placed His hand on me -- chosen me and YOU to be a perfect fixture in His palace on the day He returns and takes us into His mansion!

Come Lord Jesus, come!

Thanks for sharing this. This is what I needed to hear. I was questioning God and asking Him abt a friend of ours who is being battered with problems and there never seems to be an end...and I was asking God...Why. But your blog is an assurance that He never abandons anyone.

I read your devotion "I know how I designed it" today and I wanted to let you know how much it meant to me. My nephew is currently in jail awaiting trial for some pending felony charges. This is a particularly trying time for my family and it was good to be reminded that God knows what my nephew's pressure points are, what he can take and how long he needs to be there to turn him into His servant and to be complete in Him. I actually read 2 Cor. 4 last night and then again in your devotion and it just speaks to my heart during this situation. Thank you for the encouragement and please keep him in your prayers. God Bless!
