GOD'S WAIT ROOM WEDNESDAY
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and in His Word I put my hope. Psalm 130:5
Instead of spending time in God’s Wait Room, lifting the heavy waits in vain, I have chosen to focus on God’s Word – putting my hope in His Word rather than pacing about carrying my heavy concerns.
Here is a good word from God’s mouth:
He keeps his promises forever. Psalm 146:6
I am doing a study on God’s promises. I want to make sure that my expectations are realistic. Maybe I expect something from God that I heard or perceived, something that in reality is not Biblical or godly.
So I read on and…
Any way your slice it Psalm 146: 7-8 says “The Lord frees the prisoners, lifts up those who are weighed down, loves the godly” clearly means one thing:
I am standing on His promises expecting freedom, lifting up, and a measure of love.
While I wait I remind myself to put my hope in His Word, memorizing, repeating, expecting.
“Lord liberate the captives so they may be freed up to glorify You by serving others in these difficult times."

Those unrealistic expectations you speak of seem to me to be such a trap designed to disappoint and discourage Christians; I'm glad you addressed this.

Van, the Lord has speaking to me about the word 'hope' all evening.
Thank you for reminding me tonight that the Lord frees the prisoner and liberates the captive. I know this is speaking more in the spiritual sense than the physical, but I am praying this for my Dad and his situation. It's exactly how it feels.
Tonight we have been given a window of opportunity, that a possibility to move my Daddy quickly may present itself. We are praying the Lord will bring that release.
I am a prisoner...but a "prisoner to hope" (Zech 9:12).

Van I don't think our expectations can be 'realistic' when it comes to God. At least in the way we usually define realistic. We do need to be centered in Him but....this verse blows the thought of being 'realistic' out of the water.
Eph 3:20-21
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
The Lord has gotten on to me before when I been realistic instead of looking with eyes of faith. He is out of the box in everything.

When we base our hope on our expectations instead of what is promised in His Word, we end up disillousioned. But what we are disillousioned with is our own faulty expectations, rather than God Himself.
To me, "realistic" is to mean based on God's Word, which will never fail us.
We can trust God because of Who and What He is-- faithful, true, love, good, and wise. Thanks for your good word--
